Kombu Vatcha Singamda is yet another Sasikumar – SR Prabhakaran collaboration: the actor and director duo that made Sundarapandian together. For this film, sources tell us that they will return to the setting that made the first film a success – the rural entertainer.
Dhibu Ninan Thomas composes music for this movie, the motion poster of which was launched yesterday.
Against a blue background, the poster features an image of a man trying to tackle a bull. Sasikumar, in a black shirt, and twirling his moustache, appears later along with the title. Dhibu Ninan Thomas provides an interesting background score for the poster.
A spokesperson for the film said that it will deal with Jallikattu. “Jallikattu is an age-old custom of our State and it must be celebrated. Kombu Vatcha Singamda will showcase this heritage for the future generation who need to have knowledge of this heroic sport.”
A female lead for the project has not been identified as yet. Casting is underway for the role, the spokesperson informed us.

Ever since Jallikattu was deemed an acceptable sport in 2015, Tamil cinema has seen a variety of films based on it. Komban featuring Vijay Sethupathi and Tanya Ravichandran, Kadai Kutty Singam featuring Karthi are some of the notable movies that contained elements of the sport. Interestingly, around the time that the Jallikattu protest happened in Chennai, music composer GV Prakash Kumar unveiled a single titled ‘Kombu Vecha Singamda‘ (a small variation in the spelling separates the single from the new movie) that dealt with the same subject.
At present, Sasikumar is gearing up for the release of Enai Nokki Paayum Thota in which he shares screen space with Dhanush and Megha Akash. He also has Naadodigal 2, directed by Samuthirakani; the first installment of the film released in 2009 to positive reviews.
