Actress Kushboo Sundar has quit the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. In a written statement to the media, Kushboo said she decided to leave the party as she felt that she wasn’t being given enough credit for her years of service. She was a key campaigner for the DMK in the recent Lok Sabha elections, and has been a popular spokesperson for the party since 2011. The actress was also a vocal defender of DMK head Karunanidhi’s cause on her social media pages, and appeared recently on a national television channel on behalf of the beleauguered political party.

Since the news of her resignation, the usually media friendly star has been unavailable for comment. A number of reporters gathered outside the house Kushboo shares with her director husband Sundar C, but were told that she
had already left on a trip abroad. Khusbhoo later took to her Twitter page to confirm the news and requested the media to ‘leave her alone’ for sometime. It is expected that Khushboo will hold an official press conference once she comes back from her trip abroad.
