With dialogues and screenplay by Shyam PV, Kutravali is produced by the Veekey Films Factory banner.
Speaking about his upcoming project, Huzain said, “Kutravali means someone who is guilty of a crime. It is an action film that revolves around a psycho character who targets women. The film also has a murder mystery plot and some thriller elements as well.”
The filmmaker added that he wrote the story in 2020 during the Covid-19 lockdown.
While actor Shakthi Vasudevan, who participated in the reality show Bigg Boss season 1 and was last seen in the 2017 mystery thriller 7 Naatkal, will be essaying the lead role, the team is still finalising the other cast members. “We are planning to rope in actor Ineya for the female lead,” the director added.
The technical crew of Kutravali is set, however, and includes music composer Dinu Mohan and Magee Rangy, who is in charge of art direction. The film will be shot by cinematographer Shameer Gibran and edited by Ayoob Khan.
Huzain, who is a native of Kerala, said that his passion for Tamil cinema led him to make his debut with Kutravali. However, he clarified that it is not a bilingual project.
According to the filmmaker, the project is set to go on floors in September, with a launch ceremony tentatively planned to be held on September 9 or 10. “We will be shooting in various pockets of Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, where we’ll have our first schedule, and Pollachi. We are yet to plan the shooting schedules,” he added.
