Writer-director Damien Chazelle’s La La Land won eight awards at the 22nd Annual Critics’ Choice Awards on Sunday. The musical, starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, won in a number of major categories, including Best Director, Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Original Song. It also won awards for Production Design, Cinematography, Editing, and Score. La La Land is one of the frontrunners for this year’s Oscars.

The toughest competition for La La Land came from Moonlight and Manchester By The Sea. The former won the award for Best Supporting Actor (Mahershala Ali) and for Best Acting Ensemble. Meanwhile, Manchester By The Sea won three awards, sharing the award for Best Original Screenplay with La La Land. Manchester By The Sea also won the Best Young Actor or Actress, and Best Actor awards. Meanwhile, The People Vs. O.J. Simpson won four awards.
Bob Odenkirk won the Best Actor award for Better Call Saul, while The Best Actress award went to Natalie Portman for Jackie.
Take Viola Davis won the Best Supporting Actress for her role in Fences. Eric Heisserer won Best Adapted Screenplay for Arrival.
