Lakshmi Menon has replaced Shruti Haasan as the female lead in the upcoming Vishal – Suseenthiran project. The film is still in the pre-production stages and will begin in earnest only after October, as Vishal is currently busy shooting Ambala. Confirming the development, Vishal’s spokesperson said, “Lakshmi Menon will be playing Vishal’s love interest in the movie. The team did not want a repeat of the Vishal – Shruti Haasan pairing as Poojai will release soon. So they opted for Lakshmi.”

The film is set in Madurai and will see Ms Menon play a typical girl from the city as she did for Karthik Subbaraj’s Jigarthanda. The makers feel that this aspect would add credence to their movie and its plot. “Since the story is set in Madurai, we felt that Lakshmi would be a better fit as people already relate her to the role she played in Jigarthanda. Also, she has already been a part of two films with Vishal – both of which have been hits.”
Lakshmi Menon’s other projects include Sippai with Gautham Karthik and Komban with Karthi. Her Jigarthanda completed 50 days at the box office yesterday.
