Lakshmi Trailer: This Dance Film Is All About Living Your Dreams

After the horror film Devi, Prabhu Deva and director AL Vijay have collaborated again for a dance-drama titled Lakshmi. The film’s trailer was unveiled by Dhanush on Thursday.

Since it has Prabhu Deva, it goes without saying that dance leads the story. The film revolves around a school student – played by the delightfully spunky Ditya Bhande (winner of Sony television’s reality show Super Dancer) –  whose life is dance. She dances in the shower, she is seen dancing on the streets, on the classroom bench, evidently egged on by her mentor Prabhu Deva, who tells her, “Don’t dance for anyone, dance only for yourself.”

The story focuses on the student and her dance master as he prepares her for a competition that also has adults performing. Aishwarya Rajesh, who plays Ditya’s mother, is clearly not thrilled with all the dancing and wants her daughter to focus on her studies. But Ditya is determined to have her way. The film also has Kovai Sarala who plays the school principal. Roadblock comes in the form of Salman Yusuff Khan who is heard saying that he doesn’t want the kids to win the competition.

The highlight of the trailer is obviously all the different forms of dance – street dance, freestyle, hip-hop and the dance-offs.
