Lavanya Tripathi, who was reportedly approached to play the lead in the Tamil remake of the Telugu film 100% Love, is now officially on board for the project. Director MM Chandramouli confirmed the news. It was earlier speculated that Telugu actress Hebah Patel would play the lead role.
“We wanted someone who looks like Tamannaah, when the original came out. We found Lavanya to be ideal – she has that vivacious personality and also complements the hero,” he told The Times of India.
Titled 100% Kadhal, the film stars GV Prakash as the male lead. The story, similar to the 2011 film, is about two students competing against each other academically, wherein one student tries to outrank the other in a bid to win his love. The film also stars Nasser, Livingston, Ambika and the two funny men – Yogi Babu and Sathish
The original film had Naga Chaitanya and Tamannaah in the lead, and was declared as the blockbuster that year. It was also remade in Bengali in 2016 as Prem Ki Bujhini.
The Tamil version will go on floors soon, with most of the shooting taking place in London, and the rest in India.
