Na Kamarasan, writer and lyricist, passed away on 24 May. He was 75.

Kamarasan was born in Tamil Nadu’s Theni district in 1942. After completing his graduate studies at Haji Karutha Rowther College at Uthamapalayam, he worked odd-jobs before making his cinema debut. MG Ramachandran introduced him to the world of cinema.
Throughout his life, Kamarasan was a tireless advocate of Tamil culture, often protesting against the Central Government’s Hindi imposition schemes.
He wrote several poems and books on the importance of protecting Tamil culture and language. Karuppu Malargal, Kirukkan, Naaval Pazham, Maha Kaaviyam, Suthanthira Dinathil Oru Kaithiyin Diary are some of his literary works.
He is survived by two children, Thaippaavai and Dileepan.
