However, while the teaser was well received by Silambarasan’s fans, many people pointed out on Twitter the similarities between the film’s teaser and the teaser of Christopher Nolan’s latest directorial Tenet.
The comparisons started due to the play of time shown in the Maanaadu’s teaser, which showed the actor going back in time. The same concept was shown in Tenet, netizens pointed out.
#Maanaadu teaser felt like a tamil version of TENET !

While Nolan has not responded to these claims yet, Maanaadu director Venkat Prabhu tweeted that while he is honoured that his film is being compared to Tenet, the two are in no way connected.

Venkat added that he did not understand Tenet and people should wait for Maanaadu’s trailer to release for it to be compared with another film. The director also quoted a fan’s tweet mentioning editor Praveen’s comment after hearing the plot of Maanaadu in 2018, while Tenet released in 2020.
Maanaadu also stars Kalyani Priyadarshan in the lead and SJ Suryah, Daniel Annie Pope, YG Mahendran and Manoj K Bharathi in pivotal roles. Director-producer SA Chandrasekhar, actor-director Bharathiraja and actors Karunakaran and Premji will be seen in pivotal roles.
