Madhavan will play the lead role in the Tamil remake of the Malayalam romantic-drama Charlie (2015). The remake will be directed by Vijay and produced by Pramod Films (Love In Tokyo, Jugnu). Vijay is currently working on the trilingual film, Devi(L), starring Prabhu Deva, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Sonu Sood. Work on the remake will officially begin mid-November.
Charlie, directed by Martin Prakkat, was released last Christmas and starred Dulquer Salmaan and Parvathy. The film won eight awards at the 46th Kerala State Film Awards. Charlie was also Malayalam actress Kalpana’s last film before her death.
