The film is set to hit theatres on September 17. The makers of the film made the release announcement through a short video on Friday. It is produced by Rajesh Kondepu and Srujan Yarabolu and co-produced by Sai Sreekanth Cheruvu.

Jayakishore, who is making his directorial debut with Madhura Wines, said, “The protagonist is someone who consumes alcohol on a daily basis. Most alcoholics, after consumption, presume whatever they say is right; they feel hero-like. I have taken that type of person, and shown the chain of events that happen in his life, especially in his romantic life, and the problems he encounters due to his alcoholism.”

The director, who has also written the story, screenplay, and dialogues of Madhura Wines, clarified that the film does not glorify alcoholism, but instead highlights its detrimental impact.

Jayakishore, who has previously made a few short films, wrote this script in 2018. “After my short film 15 Days of Love (2017) was received well, I decided to venture into feature films,” he said.

Madhura Wines went on floors in the summer of 2018 and was wrapped in January 2019. It was shot by cinematographer Mohan Chary Ch and edited by Vara Prasad A, both of whom have worked on the director’s 2017 short film as well.

Sunny Naveen, who featured in 15 Days of Love, essays the alcoholic protagonist, while Seema Choudary plays his love interest. Sammohit Tumuluri plays the role of a wine shop owner.

The film is set against the backdrop of Guntur in Andhra Pradesh and features three songs, composed by Karthik Rodriguez and Jay Krish.

The film’s post-production is complete but it is yet to be certified by the CBFC.

Speaking about the release, the director said, “This is not OTT content, but something to be enjoyed in cinema halls. The film is releasing on 200 screens across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. We are also planning to release it in the US.”

“After its theatrical run, the film will stream on Amazon Prime Video,” added Jayakishore, who is currently working on the script for a thriller, which will be his next project.
