According to a report in Maalai Malar, a petition had been filed in the court asking for the stay on the film. In the petition, actor Anand Babu, son of yesteryear comic star Nagesh, says that the Theatre Nagesh in T. Nagar had been under the ownership of Nagesh’s family, and that neither the producers – Trans India, nor the director Issac, had asked them permission to use the name for their film. Anand Babu feels that the film will cause harm to the Nagesh name, and hurt the goodwill the family’s name has.

Anand Babu further demands a compensation of Rs. 50 Lakhs from the makers of the film, for the infringement of the family name, and a stay on the release of the film.

Hearing the petition, Justice Parthiban issued summons to the producer, director, and head of the Producer’s Council of Tamil Nadu, to answer the questions raised in the petition.

Nagesh Thiraiyarangam will star Ari, Ashna Zaveri, and others.
