By now, everyone knows about the case filed in the Ranipet court against Hansika Motwani for humiliating Hindu beliefs in the poster of Maha. According to a report in a Tamil daily, VG Narayanan, organiser of Hindu Makkal Munnani, a religious and cultural organization, has filed a complaint against the actress for humiliating Hindu beliefs in the poster of Maha. Narayanan initially lodged a complaint with the Commissioner of Chennai. Later, he filed a case in the Madras High Court, saying the police did not act upon the complaint.

After hearing the case, Justice GK Ilanthiraiyan ordered the Commissioner to submit the report of the investigation on the case within two weeks.

The first look poster of Maha that was released in mid-December featured Hansika smoking while wearing saffron, with sadhus lying at her feet, against the backdrop of Varanasi. Various Hindu groups said it was disrespectful of sadhus and religious beliefs.

Meanwhile, actor Silambarasan aka Simbu who appeared in a cameo in Oviya’s 90ml is to play a cameo in Hansika’s Maha too. According to various reports that are in speculation, it is said that Simbu would be playing a Muslim and that the portions involving him would be shot in Istanbul. Simbu has previously worked with Hansika in Vaalu, and was also supposed to collaborate with her in the now-scrapped Vettai Mannan. The news has been officially confirmed by the actress on her Twitter handle.

Said to be a woman-oriented crime thriller, Maha, directed by newcomer UR Jameel, marks Hansika’s 50th film, and features actor Srikanth in a pivotal role. The film also stars Karunakaran and Thambi Ramaiah in supporting roles. Music for the film is composed by Ghibran, for whom Maha marks the 25th project, while Madhan Karky has written the lyrics.
