‘Maharshi’ First Look Out: On His 43rd Birthday, Here’s Mahesh Babu Seen As Rishi, A College Student

The first look poster and teaser of Mahesh Babu’s 25th film – Maharshi – was unveiled yesterday, on the actor’s 43rd birthday. Mahesh Babu announced the start of his “new journey as Rishi” via a Twitter post.

The teaser, which begins with a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday Superstar,’ features Mahesh Babu striding through the doors of a college. As has been reported earlier, the actor will play a college student in the film alongside actor Allari Naresh who plays his classmate. A major portion of the film has been shot in the USA. While it is not known if Mahesh Babu will be seen as a student throughout the film, sources say that this particular period is a crucial plot element. “The story of the film is such that it is high on emotions and drama. The college episode is important for the plot twist,” the source adds.

Mahesh Babu also seems to have had a makeover for the role. “He will be seen in some peppy, young clothes,” we are told.

According to a DNA report, the makers of Maharshi will head to Goa for their next schedule as soon as they wrap up shoot in Dehradun. The film, directed by Vamshi Paidipally, also stars Pooja Hegde, and is produced by Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations, Vyjayanthi Cinemas and PVP Cinemas. KU Mohanan handles the cinematography, while Devi Sri Prasad composes music. Maharshi is scheduled to release on April 5, 2019.

Mahesh Babu, who was last seen in Bharat Ane Nenu, a political thriller directed by Koratla Siva, has two other films in the pipeline. SSMB26 is helmed by Sukumar while SSMB27 is directed by Arjun Reddy fame Sandeep Vanga. Mahesh Babu is known for his massy appeal and content-driven cinema, and has an IMDB rating of more than 7 for 11 of his films.
