Mahesh Babu Nominates Vijay To Plant Saplings As A Part Of The ‘Green India Challenge’

Actor Mahesh Babu who was last seen in Anil Ravipudi‘s Sarileru Neekevvaru celebrated his birthday on Sunday, August 9. The actor who turned 45, had taken up the ‘Green India Challenge’ initiative which calls for the planting of a tree sapling to make a greener India for tomorrow while also nominating three others to continue the chain. The challenge has been ideated by Rajya Sabha MP Santosh Kumar J.

The actor shared a video of himself planting a sapling at his Hyderabad house on Twitter and further went on to nominate actors Jr. NTR, Shruti Haasan and in a first, actor Vijay. The actor wrote, “There couldn’t be a better way to celebrate my birthday #GreenIndiaChallenge. I pass this on to @tarak9999, @actorvijay & @shrutihaasan. Let the chain continue and transcend boundaries with smiling eyes. I request all of you to support the cause. One step towards a greener world! Thanks to @MPsantoshtrs garu for taking the initiative. #HaraHaiTohBharaHai.”

It is a known fact that Mahesh and Vijay have been good friends for many years. It is also noteworthy that Mahesh’s Okkadu and Pokiri were remade in Tamil starring Vijay as Ghilli and Pokkiri respectively, and were huge hits in both languages.

While Vijay is yet to respond to the challenge, his fans are elated by the nomination and are awaiting his response. They had also thanked Mahesh for the same. Mahesh’s other nominees, Shruti and Jr. NTR, are also yet to take up the challenge.

Prior to Mahesh, actors Nagarjuna, Prabhas, Raashi Khanna, Samantha Akkineni, Sundeep Kishan, Lakshmi Manchu, Rashmika Mandanna, Keerthy Suresh and several others have taken up the challenge and planted saplings at their backyard.

Meanwhile, Mahesh Babu will next feature in Sarkaru Vaari Paata, the motion poster of which was unveiled on his birthday and in Rajamouli‘s recently announced untitled.

Vijay, on the other hand, is awaiting the release of his Master which was supposed to hit screens in May but has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The most awaited film will hit screens post lockdown when theatres open up.
