On Tuesday, the makers of Dhanush‘s upcoming film Karnan unveiled the title look poster in the morning followed by a making video of the film in the evening. Helmed by Pariyerum Perumal fame director Mari Selvaraj, the film is being bankrolled by Kalaipuli S Thanu‘s V Creations.

The title look poster features many hands gripping a sword in unison in the foreground, with a painting at the background comprising animals, humans, and an alarming level of smoke. When Mari had shared the poster, he added the caption ‘Needhi Suriyanai Pola Mulaithezhakoodiyathu’ meaning ‘Justice Shall Rise Up Like The Sun’.

The film is reportedly based on true events that took place near Tirunelveli and has Dhanush playing the titular character of Karnan in the film. Malayalam actress Rajisha Vijayan is playing the female lead with actor-director Lal, Lakshmi Priya Chandramouli, Gouri Kishan, Natarajan Subramaniam aka Natty, and Yogi Babu playing significant roles in the film.

On the technical front, Theni Eshwar is cranking the camera, Selva Rk on the edit, Santhosh Narayanan on music, and Tha Ramalingam on the art. Yugabharathi is penning lyrics with Dhilip Subbarayan on stunt and Sandy on dance.

In the evening, on Tuesday, the team released the making video of the film where they are seen recreating the entirety of a village with the help of miniatures. The video also had the combination of Marungan’s Naiyandi Raja Melam and SaNa’s tunes accompanying the making visuals. At the end of the video appears the silhouette of Dhanush with a sword running up a tiny hill and standing tall. A still image of the same went viral on social media a few months back.

The film is set in Tirunelveli and had completed 90% of the shoot before the nationwide lockdown was announced. The makers plan to complete the film post-lockdown and release it in theatres next year.
