#Home, the recent Malayalam family drama starring Indrans, is set to be remade in Hindi. The project will be co-produced by actor-producer Vijay Babu’s Friday Film House and Vikram Malhotra’s Abundantia Entertainment. The latter made the announcement on Thursday via social media.
The Malayalam original was produced by Vijay Babu as well.
Incidentally, the two producers are also collaborating on the upcoming Hindi remake of the 2017 Malayalam film Angamaly Diaries.
Speaking to ANI, Malhotra said, “We are delighted with the opportunity to recreate a beautiful and relevant film like #Home that is such a topical yet entertaining statement on the world that we live in today. Abundantia Entertainment has always believed in combining meaningful story-telling with heart-warming entertainment and the Hindi remake of #Home is another step in that journey.”
He also noted that the Angamaly Diaries remake is under development.
The makers are yet to announce the cast and crew for the Hindi remake of #Home.
Written and directed by Kerala State Award-winning filmmaker Rojin Thomas, #Home premiered on Amazon Prime Video on August 19. According to the streaming platform, it is a light-hearted and thought-provoking family drama about a humble but technologically-challenged old man, Oliver (Indrans), who constantly strives to remain close to his two social media-hooked sons.
Besides Angamaly Diaries and #Home, Friday Film House has produced films like Sufiyum Sujatayum, Thrissur Pooram, and June.
Abundantia Entertainment, on the other hand, has produced films like the Vidya Balan-starrers Sherni and Shakuntala Devi, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Chef, Airlift and Noor. The company has also produced the web series, Breathe and its sequel Breathe: Into The Shadows.
