Mammootty And Haneef Adeni To Reunite For ‘Ameer’

Mammootty is set to collaborate with writer Haneef Adeni for a third time, for the action drama Ameer, directed by Vinod Vijayan. The film is set in Dubai, and features Mammootty in the role of a don.

Adeni’s directorial debut The Great Father starred the actor in the lead. He recently directed the Nivin Pauly starrer Mikhael, and wrote the story for Abrahaminte Santhathikal.

Ameer comes with the tagline ‘confessions of a don’. According to a ToI report, it will be shot completely in Dubai. Gopi Sundar is composing music, and Anto Joseph, the producer of Mikhael, is financing Ameer. It is reportedly being made on a budget of Rs 25 crores.

According to The News Minute, the movie will go on floors by April this year. Meanwhile, Mammootty has a slew of projects lined up for a 2019 release.

Madhura Raja, a spin-off of the Mammootty-Prithviraj starrer Pokkiri Raja is gearing up. The movie marks Jai’s Malayalam debut, and also the coming together of the director Vyshakh, scriptwriter Udayakrishna and stunt master Peter Hein. The trio have previously worked on Mohanlal’s Pulimrugan, which was one of the highest grossing Malayalam films. The movie features Sunny Leone in a special appearance.

Mammootty is currently shooting in Wayanad for his upcoming film Unda. Directed by Khalid Rahman of Anuraga Karikkin Vellam fame, the movie stars Mammootty as a sub inspector. The film is about a troop of police officers deployed in a Naxal affected area as part of election duties. Shoot began in October, and the crew will shift to Chattisgarh after completing a three week schedule in Wayanad.

The cast of the movie includes Shine Tom Chacko, Sudhi Koppa, Jacob Gregory, Dileesh Pothan, Alencier and Omkar Das Manikpuri.
