In what appears to be Mammootty’s return to Tamil cinema after 12 years, Peranbu has the actor play Amudhavan, a middle-class father working as a taxi driver abroad. Apart from him, the film also stars Samuthirakani, transgender actress Anjali Ameer, Livingston, Suraj Venjaramood, and others, with music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Child artist Sadhana, who won critical acclaim for her realistic acting in Thanga Meengal, will also be playing a significant role in Peranbu.
Produced by PL Thenappan under Shree Raja Lakshmi Films, this film has editor Sreekar Prasad and lyricist Vairamuthu. The film is slated for a May release this year.
Incidentally, last year, Sanal Kumar Sasidharan’s Sexy Durga (now titled S Durga) was screened and won The Hivos Tiger Award at IFFR.
