A major part of the film has been shot in Ladakh and Kashmir. This marks Mani Ratnam’s return to Kashmir where he shot two of his films – Roja, and Dil Se.
Many sources say a song in the film will be shot in Europe. Mani Ratnam has shot all of his films, barring one sequence in Guru, exclusively in India. Reportedly, he had planned to shoot the song in Himachal Pradhesh, but due to certain logistical issues, it is being moved out of the country.

Meanwhile, the Telugu version of the film – titled Duet, will also be releasing on the same day. Producer Dil Raju will be releasing the film in Telugu. Raju had released Mani Ratnam’s previous film Oh Kadhal Kanmani as OK Bangaram as well. “Just like in the case of OK Bangaram, director Mani Ratnam narrated the story of Duet at the beginning of the shoot and I loved it. I have decided to partner with the great director once again for this film. The film will hit the screens in March 2017”, said Dil Raju in a press statement.
Actors Rukmini Vijayakumar, RJ Balaji and Delhi Ganesh will be playing supporting roles in the film. It will have songs tuned by Mani Ratnam’s regular collaborator A R Rahman. Ravi Varman will be handling the camera for the project, and Vairamuthu will be writing the lyrics.
