The shooting of actor Vimal’s next movie ‘Mannar Vagera‘ is scheduled to start this month. Directed by Boopathy Pandian, the movie has Anandhi of Kayal fame in the lead role. The film, said to be a comedy entertainer, breaks from the Vimal-Soori combination and features Robot Shankar for comic relief.
Vimal has had a particularly long dry spell after his fairly successful movie Manjapai in 2014. After his brief, lackluster stint in an urban setting in Anjala, he sought refuge in the much familiar rural setting in his latest film Maapillai Singham. In his interview with Silverscreen, Vimal admitted his attempts to break the ‘rural boy’ mold were rather disastrous. Signing Maapillai Singham was driven by his decision to play to his strengths. However, his rural charm seems to have run out. In his next film ‘Mannar Vagera’, it remains to be seen if his former rural charm will come to his rescue.
In his past interview, he admitted that some of his earlier movies were done on a whim. But being in the industry for six years, Vimal now chooses scripts with a discerning eye.
The young actor hopes this movie gives him his much-needed break.
