Director Vasan Bala’s Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, produced by Ronnie Screwvala Pictures (RSVP), is set to release in China and the US. The action-comedy features Gulshan Devaiah, Patahkha fame Radhika Madan and debutant Abhimanyu Dassani in the lead.
The film was previously screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, had won the People’s Choice Award. The film was the first Indian production to be screened under the popular Midnight Madness category that shows action and horror films at 11:59 PM every day of the festival. The film beat Assassination Nation and Halloween to bag the award. The film also received its widest release in Taiwan recently.
“It has been an overwhelming journey throughout the film, the love and response are humbling. More than anything else it’s touching to know the audience found themselves in the world of Surya. After the global recognition at TIFF, now the film is thrown open to the global markets with the international releases in Taiwan, Middle East, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Indonesia, South Africa and Japan amongst others. The love and response are enriching more than anything else and it is a bestowing experience to get such appreciation,” the director was quoted by ToI.

Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota is about a boy with a rare disease called Congenital Insensitivity To Pain who grows up to become a fan of action films and a vigilante. Mard Ko Dard… is written and directed by Vasan Bala, whose debut film Peddlers never saw the light of the day. Mard Ko Dard… also features Mahesh Manjrekar and Jimit Drivedi.
RSVP’s previous release, Uri: The Surgical Strike has also become a hit. The movie starring Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam, Mohit Raina and Kirti Kulhari released in January and had earned the appreciation of critics and audiences alike.
