Marvel Releases ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Trailer a Day after It Leaked Online

Marvel Studios released the trailer of Spider-Man: No Way Home, on Monday, a day after it got leaked online. Starring Tom Holland, it is the third MCU Spider-Man film and is scheduled to hit the screens on December 17.

The film, directed by Jon Watts, will see actors Holland, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon reprise their roles as Peter Parker, Michelle Jones or MJ, and Ned Leeds, respectively.

Benedict Cumberbatch, who essays Doctor Strange in the MCU, joins the cast as well. He will reportedly take over the role of Parker’s mentor, previously occupied by Tony Stark aka Iron Man (essayed by Robert Downey Jr) in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and then by Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury in Spider-Man: Far From Home after the death of Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame.

From the trailer, it appears that No Way Home will take over from where Far From Home left-off with Spider-Man’s identity being outed by Mysterio. No Way Home follows the chaos that unfolds in Parker’s life after his identity is revealed and his attempt to fix things with Doctor Strange’s help. However, Strange’s spell fails to work and unleashes a multiverse that sees the return of Doctor Octopus, played by Alfred Molina, from Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 2.

Molina revealed in April that he will return as Doctor Octopus after a gap of 17 years.

When the trailer got leaked, speculations began about the comeback of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as well. But, there was no trace of them in the trailer, leaving fans disappointed. However, it is still expected that they will be part of the film. Both Maguire and Garfield have played Spider-Man in previous films: the former in the Spider Man franchise and the latter in The Amazing Spider-Man films.

There are also speculations surrounding the potential return of other characters from previous Spider-Man films, including the Green Goblin, Electro, and Sandman.

No Way Home is a sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home and will be one of the connecting films of the larger Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness, which is expected to release in 2022. Earlier, the Disney+ series Wanda Vision, was the only connection to the multiverse.

No Way Home is also one of the most hyped Marvel films. In February, ahead of the title release of No Way Home, Holland, Zendaya, and Batalon, confused fans by sharing three different titles.

After its official release, the film’s trailer garnered over two million views on YouTube, and over 20 million views on Twitter, in two hours.
