According to a TOI report, the decision was taken during a managing committee meeting of the MCA. SRK was banned from entering the stadium in May 2012 for five years after he had a scuffle and a heated altercation with a security guard and officials following an IPL match between his team KKR and the Mumbai Indians.

The ban was supposed to end in 2017. However, a section of MCA decided to lift the ban a couple of years earlier, since the actor has already served three years of it.
