The film is set to be written and directed by Nani’s sister, debutant filmmaker Deepthi Ghanta.

Meet Cute is Nani’s fourth production venture after Awe (2018), Hit (2020), and its sequel, Hit 2, that was announced in March. The film will be co-produced by Prashanthi Tipirneni, with S Venkatarathnam on board as executive producer.

“A new journey begins today. This one’s special for more than one reason,” tweeted Nani, also sharing a picture of himself with the film’s clapboard.

Speaking to Silverscreeen India about the film, a source close to the production unit, on condition of anonymity, said, “The film is in the pre-production stage. However, the scripting has been completed. The team is currently in the process of casting the main female leads. Meet Cute can be called a comedy-drama as it will have some humorous elements to it.”

The source added that Meet Cute will be a “women-centric film” that will feature multiple female leads. “There are a couple of main female leads in the film, along with secondary characters, who will also be predominantly women. They are looking to cast known faces. Tamil actor Sathyaraj will feature in a pivotal role as well.”

While the cast of the film is yet to be announced, the makers revealed that Vijay Bulganin will compose the music for Meet Cute.

Meet Cute will be Bulganin’s second film as music composer after the Telugu action comedy Saptagiri Express (2016).

Speaking to Silverscreen India, the composer said, “There are about five songs in the film and all of them are melodies. There are no title, introduction, or item songs.”

He added that he has already finished composing three tunes, with the lyrics of the songs in place. The lyrics are written by Krishnakanth. “We are yet to start recording the songs. We are searching for the right voices,” Bulganin said.

While one of the songs from the album will be inspired by the 1990s and 2000s period of Indian music, the rest of them will “appeal to the current generation,” the composer added. “One of the songs will be inspired by the Blues genre and another one will be in the jazz style. The album will have a nostalgic theme to it and all the songs will justify the title Meet Cute in some way.”
