Members Of The LGBTQI+ Community Want Iruttu Arayil Murattu Kuththu Banned

Iruttuaraiyil Murattu Kuthu Movie Stills Starring Gautham Karthik and Vaibhavi Shandilya

Iruttu Arayil Murattu Kuththu, a film that stars Gautham Karthik as the male lead, has created quite a stir for its offensive content and jokes. The film is about a female ghost who craves to have sex, something which she hadn’t done before she died. The film also includes a lot of ribaldry and jokes on queer people.

According to The News Minute, transgender activist Apsara Reddy and Chennai Dost – an LGBTQI+ organisation – have approached Chennai Police Commissioner AK Viswanathan to file complaint against the film. They are also looking to meet the Tamil Nadu Film Producers’ Council president Vishal Krishna and seek an apology from the makers and cast of the film.

“Such films incite crimes against women and LGBTQI+ people. It is behind such artistic work that bullies and people who discriminate against others on the basis of sexuality and gender hide,” Apsara Reddy tells TNM. The activists have also approached the District Legal Services authority, demanding that Santhosh P Jayakumar (the director) and Gautham Karthik have been summoned as well.
