Backed by Sree Venkateswara Cinemas in association with Karan C Productions, Michael is produced by Bharath Chowdary and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao and presented by Narayan Das K Narang. The makers unveiled the title poster of the film on Friday.

Ranjit, who has previously directed the Tamil romantic film Ispade Rajavum Idhaya Raniyum, noted that Michael will be a “high-octane action film.” While Sundeep plays the title character, Vijay Sethupathi features in a special action role. “It will be a new kind of a role. It’s a surprise element in the film.”

On roping in the two actors, the filmmaker said, “I started writing the script with Sundeep in mind, and Vijay Sethupathi is a close friend, who will always be in my mind for every script I write. So it was penned that way and I brought them on board after narrating the story to them.”

Ranjit, who writes the scripts for his films, added that Michael is a fictional film, but is connected to a lot of true events. “We have taken real events and exaggerated them for the film.”

The pan-Indian action film is set to be made in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. “It is a big-canvas film that needs a lot of investment. Therefore, to extend the market, we chose to make it a pan-Indian film. Secondly, this is a film that will appeal across India,” said Ranjit.

“In the following weeks, we will introduce the cast members, including the female lead. They will be known faces from across the various Indian film industries,” he added.

The filmmaker revealed that while Michael will feature actors from all languages, the shooting will mostly be done in Tamil and Telugu. “We will be dubbing in the other languages. It’s similar to how KGF and Baahubali were primarily Kannada and Telugu films, respectively. We will follow the same model.”
