Mimi is the Hindi remake of the Marathi film Mala Aai Vhaaychya, which was directed by Samruddhi Porey. It won the National Award in the Best Feature Film category in 2011.
According to a report by India Today, Kriti Sanon said, “I am very excited. It’s based on the subject of surrogacy but actually, it’s the story of this young girl who wants to be an actor. She’s a dancer in Mandawa and she ends up being a surrogate for a couple. Then, the things that follow change her life and also change her as a person.”
The film marks the third collaboration between Sanon and Tripathi. They previously appeared in Bareilly Ki Barfi and Luka Chuppi. Producer Dinesh Vijan has also produced many of Sanon’s films including Raabta and Luka Chuppi.
Apart from Mimi, Kriti Sanon will appear in Bachchan Pandey and Adipurush. She has finished shooting for the upcoming horror comedy film Bhediya, which also stars Varun Dhawan in the lead. The film is slated to release on April 14, 2022.
Meanwhile, Pankaj Tripathi who was last seen in Kaagaz will be appearing in Bachchan Pandey as well as the upcoming sports film ‘83. He will be playing the role of Man Singh, the manager of the Indian cricket team in 1983.
