Miruthan, directed by Shakthi Soundarrajan, has been given an A certificate by the censor board. At a recent press meet, actor Jayam Ravi said that Miruthan would be a ‘different’ zombie film, with a strong logical foundation.
“Miruthan will be a different zombie film. The film will have a strong logical explanation for the audience to believe in. I play a traffic police official in Miruthan and Lakshmi Menon plays a doctor”, said the actor. Miruthan is conceived from two Tamil words, Mirugam (Animal) and Manithan (Human). “It was a coincidence when Madhan Karky pointed out that Miruthan is a synonym for walking corpse,” said the director. He further added that the film had extensive CG work.
The film, which was shot in Ooty and Coimbatore, was wrapped up in 54 days. It is gearing up for a release on February 19.
Actress Lakshmi Menon, who plays Jayam Ravi’s love interest, revealed that there was not many romantic scenes in the movie. “The romantic scenes in the film are quite different from the usual format. In addition to the love scenes, I have also performed stunts in Miruthan,” she added. Starring Sriman, Kaali Venkat and Baby Anikha in important roles, the film will also be dubbed in Telugu. The Telugu version will have a simultaneous release on February 19.
