Anukeerthy Vas, winner of Miss India World 2018, will make her acting debut with Prashanth in a Tamil film directed by Venkatesh and produced by Thyagarajan. News regarding the film has been doing the rounds for a few months now, and it was announced recently.
Anukeerthy Vas tweeted about the film, saying she was grateful for the opportunity.

Speaking to Silverscreen, producer Thyagarajan, who is Prashanth’s father, said, “Anukeerthy signed up three months back. We thought she would be apt for the role, also because she speaks Tamil and can dub for her voice. She stars opposite Prashanth who plays a youngster in the film. It’s a family oriented movie with a lot of action.”
The film also stars Uma Iyer and Naren as Anukreethy’s parents, while Jayasudha will play Prashanth’s mother. The producer said that Bhumika Chawla will play Prashanth’s sister in the film. Prakashraj is the main villain, and Nasser has an important role. Yogi Babu, Robo Shankar, Sampath and Subbu Panju are part of the cast.

The shooting for the film will begin later this month in Chennai. The team has also finalised locations in Hyderabad, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, with the songs to be shot in New Zealand and Australia. Music for the film is by Taniskh Bagchi, a well-known composer in Bollywood. One of the songs has already been recorded, and Thyagarajan said, “The film is a special one particularly for its music, which we think will be a hit.”
More details about the crew and the story of the film will be announced soon. Prashanth last worked with director Venkatesh in the 2001 film Chocolate. Incidentally, this is his fourth movie with a former Miss India or World participant making their acting debut. Starting from Aishwarya Rai in Jeans (1998), he has worked with Isha Koppikar in Kadhal Kavidhai (1998), Pooja Chopra and Divya Parameshwaran in Ponnar Shankar (2011).
