Miss World 2017 winner Manushi Chillar will reportedly make her film debut opposite Akshay Kumar in a biopic on Prithviraj Chauhan’s life, directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi and produced by Yash Raj Films.
Speculations about this have been in circulation for over a week. However, sources have now confirmed that she will make her Bollywood debut with this biopic, playing the role of Sanyuktha, one of Prithviraj Chauhan’s three wives and the daughter of his rival, Kannauj king Jaichand. The film centres on their love story, and will go on floors later this year.

Manushi was reportedly earlier offered the Hindi remake of the Telugu film RX100, opposite actor Sunil Shetty’s son Ahan. She refused the offer because she thought there would be a lot of pressure to make her debut with another newcomer and it was better to act with an established actor, reports Times Now News. She was seen in a TV commercial with Ranveer Singh recently, which also led to speculations that they may work on a film soon.
The Prithviraj Chauhan biopic has not been officially announced yet, but news about Akshay Kumar teaming up with Yash Raj Films was reported by DNA in June 2018. A source close to the production said, “The film will be mounted on a huge scale. The team will also recreate the 12th century for it. Chandraprakash has been planning to make a movie on Prithviraj Chauhan for the last two-and-a-half years. Akshay Kumar has been his only choice for the role. Aditya Chopra loved his storytelling and decided to back the project.”
Chandraprakash Dwivedi directed the 1991 TV series Chanakya, in which he also played the titular role. He also directed the TV series Mrityunjay (1996) which was based on the life of Karna, and Pinjar (2003), a film based on partition.
The Prithviraj Chauhan biopic will bring Akshay Kumar and Yash Raj Films together after a gap of 11 years. They last worked in the 2008 film Tashan that also starred Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor.
