Mountain Man Gets Tax Exemption In Bihar

Bollywood’s new blue-eyed boy Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s upcoming biopic Manjhi, The Mountain Man has been given a tax exemption by the Bihar government. The idea is to get the maximum number of people to watch it, officials said.

Manjhi – The Mountain Man is based on the life of ‘Mountain Man’ Dashrath Manjhi, a labourer from a village near Gaya who carved a path through a mountain single-handedly. Directed by Ketan Mehta, the film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte.

The Bihar cabinet, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, announced that no entertainment tax would be charged for the exhibition of the the film in theatres across the state as the movie is based on the life of Manjhi, who hails from Bihar. “Manjhi’s inspirational story tells that a person can do the hardest work with determination even when resources are scarce. It encourages the viewers to see human life in the right perspective and inspires them as well as society”, said a government press release.
