Mumbai HC Cancels Non-Bailable Arrest Warrant Against Sanjay Dutt

An Andheri court in Mumbai has cancelled the non-bailable arrest warrant issued against Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt. According to a report in The Hindu, the warrant was issued because Dutt failed to appear before the court to record his response based on the complaint filed by film producer Shakeel Noorani.

The 57-year-old actor appeared before the Andheri metropolitan magistrate two days after the warrant was issued. Later that day, the court decided to cancel the warrant.

The warrant pertains to a private complaint filed against Dutt for criminal intimidation. In his petition, producer Shakeel Noorani alleged that the actor abandoned a film called Jan ki Bazzi midway in 2002. When he decided to file a complaint, Noorani was allegedly intimidated by underworld acquaintances of Dutt.
