In Mumbaikar, Sethupathi will be playing the character that was played by Sundeep Kishan in the original film- a youngster who comes to Chennai from his village for an interview.
Mumbaikar is produced by Riya Shibu and music will be composed by Prashant Pillai. Besides direction, Santosh is also in charge of the film’s cinematography.
Apart from Mumbaikar, Sethupathi also has another Hindi project in the works- an action web series directed by filmmaker duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, popularly known as Raj & DK. The film also stars Shahid Kapoor.
Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan‘s upcoming film Laal Singh Chaddha, the Hindi remake of Tom Hanks’ 1994 Academy Award-winning Hollywood film Forrest Gump, was initially supposed to be Sethupathi’s Hindi debut. He backed out of the film over scheduling issues, according to his publicity manager.
While Mumbaikar is scheduled to release in theatres, an official release date has not yet been announced.
