The Nadigar Sangam’s Annual General Meeting, scheduled to be held at Loyola College tomorrow, has been shifted from to the Nadigar Sangam ground. Lack of security at Loyola College has been cited as the reason for the sudden change in venue.
The office bearers of the Nadigar Sangam – President Nasser, Secretary Vishal, and Treasurer Karthi – convened an urgent press meet to make the announcement. On the 22nd of November, Members of the Sangam met the Commissioner of Police to request police protection for the meeting. After the meeting, treasurer Karthi said “The police have promised to provide security to the general body meeting which will be held as scheduled.”

Now, Vishal, citing that the security measures were not up to the level at Loyola, said the meeting will take place in a grand manner at the Nadigar Sangam grounds located at Habibullah Road in T Nagar. Earlier this month, Vishal announced that the Sangam will not invite former office bearers, Sarath Kumar and Radha Ravi, to the AGM. “This is not a personal decision, we are only following the rules and guidelines of the Sangam. There have been accusations against them, and the case is in court. Therefore, we simply have to abide by the rules,” he said.
Apart from the General Body meeting, the Nadigar Sangam will be felicitating Kamal Haasan on his Chevalier honour, besides presenting awards to other veteran film and stage actors.
