Nadigar Sangam has requested its members to not associate themselves with PETA. The animal rights advocacy group has been under severe criticism for its role in the ban on Jallikattu. In the wake of the Jallikattu protests in Tamil Nadu, artists like Trisha Krishnan, Dhanush, who’ve been associated with the group in the past have also come under severe criticism.

Actor Ponvannan made the request on behalf of the Sangam recently. He said:  “To our knowledge none of the actors and actresses are members of PETA; even if they are associated with it, keeping in mind the people’s sentiments, we request them to leave the organisation.”
