Telugu actor Naga Shaurya, who was last seen in the 2021 sports drama Lakshya, is set to team up with debutant filmmaker Pawan Basamsetti for a yet-to-be-titled film. The upcoming film will be a commercial entertainer set in a town, says the director to Silverscreen India.
The project was officially announced on Saturday via social media for the occasion of the Telugu new year, Ugadi. The film is produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri under the Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Cinemas (SLV Cinemas) banner, tentatively titled Production No 6.
Speaking about the upcoming film, Basamsetti, who has earlier worked as a writer with UV Creations production banner, says to us, “This will be a fun-filled, fictional entertainer and there will be an underlying message communicated in a subtle way. Comedy will be an important aspect in the film and the story is set against a town backdrop.”
The filmmaker has also written the script and adds, “This idea came to me about three and a half years back but it was only during the pandemic that I got the opportunity to develop it into a proper feature. I also share a good rapport with Naga Shaurya and felt that he would be a perfect fit for the role I have written.”
He also mentions that the film is currently in the pre-production stages and it will go on floors sometime during July-August. Major parts of it are expected to be shot in Hyderabad and a few portions in the West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. “The technical crew and other cast members will be finalised and announced shortly. The cast will have a mix of new and known faces,” the filmmaker says.
The makers are expecting to wrap up filming by November and release sometime in 2023.
Meanwhile, Naga Shaurya will be next seen in the upcoming film Krishna Vrinda Vihari directed by Anish R Krishna. The film also features Shirley Setia, Vennela Kishore and Rahul Ramakrishna, among others.
