Actor Nagesh’s grandson and son of actor Anand Babu, Gajesh, debuts in Tamil cinema with Kalkandu. Nandakumar, the director of the film, was looking out for an actor, who would resemble Nagesh and his efforts weren’t fruitful. He was advised by a friend to contact Anand Babu, whose second son Gajesh resembled his grandfather. But just that didn’t help Gajesh bag the opportunity. He was also asked to give an audition and was formally trained to act, before the film went on floors. “Gajesh took to acting effortlessly. We also hear that Nagesh was fond of Gajesh and he had predicted that he will prove his prowess as an actor,” says director Nandakumar about his new find.
Actress Dimple Chopade of Yaaruda Mahesh fame pairs opposite Gajesh in Kalkandu and actors Swaminathan, Manobala and Mayilsamy form the supporting cast. The film is now in the final phase of shooting.
