The latest to join the cast of the NTR biopic is actor-producer Nandamuri Kalyanram.
According to a report in The Times Of India, talks are on with Kalyanram to reprise the role of his late father Nandamuri Harikrishna in the biopic. It is said that the biopic will trace the life of Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, touching upon the professional and the personal. Harikrishna had supported his father in his political career, and his character is said to be of great importance in the film. He died in a car accident near Hyderabad yesterday after suffering fatal injuries to the head and chest.
Meanwhile, in August, Rana Daggubati confirmed that he will play Chandrababu Naidu, who is also NTR’s son-in-law. It was earlier reported that Vidya Balan will be playing the role of NTR’s wife, Basavatarakam and Rakul Preet Singh will play Sri Devi in the biopic.
The film will also star Manjima Mohan, Sumanth, Prakash Raj, veteran actor Kaika and Keerthy Suresh in key roles. It is produced by NTR’s son Balakrishna – who also plays the titular role – and Vishnu Induri and Sai Korrapati.
Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao was a leading Telugu actor from the 1950s to the 70s. He received three National Film Awards for co-producing Thodu Dongalu (1954) and Seetharama Kalyanam (1960) for National Art Theater, Madras, and directing Varakatnam (1970). He also founded the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 1982 and served three terms as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh between 1983 and 1995.
The NTR biopic went on floors early last month and is slated for a Sankranthi release next year. It is being directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, who is also working on Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika.
Kalyanram is working on a film with KV Guhan which stars Arjun Reddy-fame Shalini Pandey and Nivetha Thomas; his other releases this year include Na… Nuvve, and MLA, which had a successful run at the box office.
