The 61st National Film Awards will be announced today at 4pm. As many as 40 Tamil films have entered in various categories. In the feature films section, awards are given in 30 categories including best direction, best actor, best actress, and best feature film, best debut film of a director, best children’s film, best animation film, best production design and best playback singer among others. Some of the popular films expected to make the cut this year include David, Maryan, Pandiya Naadu, Raja Rani, Ethir Neechal, Pannnaiyaarum Padminiyum and Soodhu Kavvum. Meanwhile Vijay Sethupathi and Dhanush are hot contenders to make it to the best actor list. Films like 6 Mezhugu Varthigal, Haridas, Madha Yaani Kootam, Moodar Koodam, Thalaimuraigal and Thangmeenkal among others also feature in the list.
