At a recent press meet, producer CJ Jayakumar said, “We are finally releasing the film, made on a big budget, after going through so many hardships and insults.”

“I am sure married men will have tears in their eyes when they see the scenes between Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara, despite the short duration,” he added.

The director said that the film should have taken off in 2013, but was delayed due to various reasons. “I approached Atharvaa with the script in 2013, but it got shelved as we couldn’t get a producer. Morever, we didn’t want to compromise on any element of the film. Many producers backed out of the project after reading the script, finally Jayakumar agreed to produce the film,” said Ajay Gnanamuthu.

Though it’s an action thriller, the film’s dialogues get prominence as well, said writer Pattukottai Prabhakaran. “This is my 24th film and it remains close to my heart. Though the film is of 2 hours and 50 minutes duration, audience will not find it long as the dialogues are very engaging,” he added.

Music is by Hiphop Tamizha Adhi. Though the audio launch took place in June, two more tracks have been added. While Adhi brought in foreign technicians to compose the songs, the stunt team had performers from Hong Kong.

Talking about the stunts, Atharvaa said, “It’s been a roller coaster ride. During one of the stunt scenes, I was left hanging from the 13th floor. All I had was a rope to hold on to. The audience can see the scene on-screen.”

The film stars Nayanthara, Atharvaa, Anurag Kashyap, Raashi Khanna and Ramesh Thilak in pivotal roles, while Vijay Sethupathi has a cameo.

The trailer of the film showed a cat-and-mouse game that the killer (played by Anurag Kashyap) plays with CBI officer Anjali (Nayanthara) and Atharvaa’s character. Though it’s a thriller, the film also focuses on a strong emotional bond between the siblings – Atharvaa and Nayanthara.

The producer had earlier said that the script was originally written for a male lead, but once Nayanthara came on board, the script was tweaked for her.
