Netflix Gearing Up To Enter Indian Market

Popular online streaming service Netflix is preparing to launch its service in India. A The Hindu report says that the company might take off in India during the trade show Consumer Electronic Show 2016 at Las Vegas from January 6-9.

Netflix is an American Internet streaming media, providing its services in North and South America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and some parts of Europe. As of October 2015, Netflix had over 69 million subscribers worldwide. (Information Courtesy: The Hindu)

In the US, the website’s services cost around $8.99 (about ₹600) a month for watching HD-quality movies and TV shows on any two screens at the same time. Last year, Hotstar, an online streaming website from Twenty-First Century Fox Inc controlled Star Network, was launched in India.

According to a Business Line report, the company has partnered with an Indian Telecom company to leverage 4G networks. At present, Airtel is the sole provider of 4G network in India. Reliance’s 4G services, currently, are only extended to its employees.
