New Amsterdam: Anupam Kher’s Latest Hollywood Outing

Anupam Kher announced his participation in a new show for NBC called New Amsterdam. He tweeted that he would be essaying the role of Dr Kapoor.

Kher is no foreigner to international projects. Even before actresses like Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra made their foray into Hollywood, Kher had been doing steady work in the west.

He started with small parts in cross-over and independent films like Woody Allen’s You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger, it was only in David.O.Russel’s 2012 movie Silver Linings Playbook that Kher came to the viewer’s attention. Boasting a stellar cast that included Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert Di Niro and Jacki Weaver, all of whom were nominated for the Oscars (with Lawrence winning), Kher’s role of Dr Patel, the psychiatrist who treated Cooper, though small in length, was appreciated.
