Reports of Gautham Menon’s acting debut were refuted by the director’s spokesperson earlier today. A Dinamalar article said that Menon has been brought in to star in an upcoming film that also features Ivana in the lead role. Gautham Menon is said to play a man who rescues Ivana from a bad situation.
The report further added that the film will be directed by Jai, who makes his debut with the project, and that a leading producer is bankrolling the movie.
Galatta too, reported that Gautham Menon has been signed on to play a negative role in an upcoming film with Vasanth Ravi as the lead. Another Tamil filmmaker – Mysskin – was initially approached, the article said.
Gautham Menon’s spokesperson denied all such reports.
“At this point, it is all conjecture. Any such announcement will be made by Gautham Menon himself. And for now, there is no such project that we know of. If there is something, we will announce it officially,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson added that the director is currently busy with Enai Nokki Paayum Thota and Dhruva Natchathiram. He has also signed on to produce Darbuka Siva’s untitled film. It is Siva’s directorial debut.
All these projects are in varying stages of production.

Menon has made a few guest appearances in his films (Minnale, Kaakha Kaakha), and has had a wide range of cameos in other projects. Most recently, he was seen in Goli Soda 2, directed by Vijay Milton.
Meanwhile, the filmmaker has begun the final schedule of his Dhanush- Megha Akash starrer Enai Nokki Paayum Thota. The movie has been facing several delays and was not able to keep up with its original release date of February 2017. It is expected that the film will release later this year.
