Emmy Award-winning show Big Little Lies has gone on floors with the second season. And there are no surprises as veteran and Oscar winning actress Meryl Streep joins the cast. With ginger, short-cropped hair, Streep will be playing the role of Mary Louise Wright, mother to Perry Wright, in the series.
Nicole Kidman, who plays Celeste Wright, took to Instagram to share Streep’s first look from the sets.
Her character will arrive in Monterey after becoming “concerned for the well-being of her grandchildren” following her son’s death and “searching for answers,” according to a description provided by HBO. Perry was accidentally killed by the women soon after he attacked Celeste in the last season. The entire season focused on how the women supported each other, eventually having each other’s backs. The show delves into more women, friends, domestic abuse, rape, and relationships. The second season promises to focus on Jane story, who, revealed at the end, was raped by Perry.
Streep, who will join the show starring alongside Reese Witherspoon, Zoe Kravitz, Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley, Adam Scott, and others. The show is expected to be released sometime next year.
