Night Drive, filmmaker Vysakh‘s upcoming Malayalam directorial, is a road movie packed with thriller, love, suspense and revenge elements, the film’s scenarist Abhilash Pillai told Silverscreen India. The film’s trailer was released on Thursday.
Featuring actors Anna Ben, Roshan Mathew and Indrajith Sukumaran in lead roles, Night Drive is produced by Priya Venu and Neeta Pinto under the Aan Mega Media banner. Director Vysakh had previously collaborated with this production house in the 2012 action-comedy Mallu Singh.
In conversation with Silverscreen India, Abhilash said, “Night Drive’s story happens overnight– between evening 6 pm one day and 6 am the next day. It is a fast-paced film that will make the audience sit on the edge of their seat. Anna plays a journalist, Roshan, a taxi driver and Indrajith, a police officer.”
“I usually write stories inspired by true events. And even Night Drive is one such project. Long back, I got to know about an incident that happened in Bengaluru. Taking a small reference from that, I developed the thread for Night Drive. I narrated this to Vysakh last year and he liked the idea. Following that, I finished the script and the project took off without any delay as soon as we got the production and desired cast on board,” he added.
According to Abhilash, Night Drive was shot in various parts of Kochi for around 40 days. There are a lot of night and outdoor sequences in the film, he added.
He further said that Night Drive’s post-production works are almost completed and the film is gearing up for release soon. The film’s technical crew includes music composer Ranjin Raj, editor Sunil S Pillai and cinematographer Shaji Kumar who has worked with Vysakh in films like Pulimurugan and Madhura Raja.
Abhilash has also written the script for Pathaamvalavu, the upcoming Malayalam film starring Suraj Venjaramoodu and Indrajith. He said that the film has entered the post-production stage after wrapping up the filming.
Meanwhile, Roshan, who was last seen in Kuruthi, has a slew of projects in the pipeline, including his Tamil debut Cobra, the Hindi film Darlings, and the Malayalam films Chathuram, Kumari, and Oru Thekkan Thallu Case. Anna, the two time Kerala State Award winner who last starred in Sara’s, will next be seen in Naaradan, Ennittu Avasanam and Kaapa.
