Nivetha Thomas At The '118' Success Meet

Talks are on with  Nivetha Thomas to play Rajinikanth’s daughter in his upcoming film with director AR Murugadoss. The film stars Nayanthara in the lead, and is titled Thalaivar 167 temporarily.

The film’s spokesperson told Silverscreen that talks with Nivetha Thomas are in the initial stages and nothing can be confirmed yet. He tweeted this morning saying, “The rumors being speculated about the cast of Thalaivar 167 are not authentic. As of now only Nayanthara has been roped in.”

Pre-production work on Thalaivar 167 is currently on, and shoot is expected to begin this month in Mumbai. The first-look poster is expected to release soon.

Nivetha Thomas will be working with Rajinikanth and Naynathara for the first time. She was last seen as Kamal Haasan’s daughter in Papanasam, in 2015. Post this, she concentrated on Telugu movies and has many projects under production.

Meanwhile, pictures from a photo shoot for Thalaivar 167 with Rajinikanth have leaked online. The actor’s spokesperson released a statement saying, “I request all the Thalaivar fans not to share the leaked stills and try to preserve it until releases officially.”

The photos have lead to speculations that Rajini plays a police officer in the film. They were shot on April 4 in a studio in Chennai, and shows Rajinikanth wearing khakhi. He has previously played police man decades back in films like Moondru Mugam, Pandian, and Kodi Parakuthu.

It has also been speculated that Rajinikanth plays a dual role in the film and one of his characters stars opposite Keerthy Suresh. Some reports also speculate that SJ Suryah will be seen as the antagonist. This is yet to be confirmed. The rest of the team includes cinematographer Santosh Shivan, who will be working with the actor 27 years after Thalapathy. Music will be composed by Anirudh Ravichander, who recently worked on Petta.

Other details are yet to be announced. The director had earlier hinted in an interview that the film might be a fantasy venture. This is Rajinikanth’s 167th film, and is believed to be his last one before he enters politics. He announced earlier this year that he will not be contesting Lok Sabha elections.
