A report in the Maalai Malar says that the family of Swathi, the techie who was stabbed to death in Nungambakkam last year, had complained against the makers of the film. The family claimed that they had not sought any clearance from the family, and that it has caused them further emotional trauma. The central crime branch of the police have registered a case against the makers and are investigating.

Earlier, producer Subbiah, director Ramesh Selvan, and writer Ravi had applied to the court to grant them anticipatory bail in the case, but the sitting judge quashed the plea. According to the court, the filmmakers failed to get the necessary clearance from the family, and advertised that the film was based on true incidents. The entire incident is still under investigation.

Meanwhile, the film was recently re-titled Nungambakkam.
