Produced by Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar, wife of late Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar, along with Gurudatha Talwar under the PRK banner, the film is directed by Vamsidhar Bhogaraju.

Speaking at the trailer launch event, Sait said it was an honour and privilege to be part of Puneeth’s cinematic vision. “Puneeth anna was keen on the distribution of films on platforms like Amazon Prime Video. We agreed that younger filmmakers should enjoy the process of making films versus running through the yard of first, second-day collections. It is a homecoming for me that we are back on Prime with the PRK banner.”

It is to be noted that One Cut Two Cut is Sait’s third film to premiere on the platform, after Humble Politician Nograj and French Biriyani. The latter was also produced by PRK.

One Cut Two Cut is a satirical comedy, which revolves around an art and crafts teacher Gopi (Sait), who has to save the school on his very first day at work, after it is taken hostage by four radical social media activists.

The film also features Prakash Belawadi, Samyukta Hornad, Vineeth ‘Beep’ Kumar, and Sampath Maitreya, in pivotal roles.

Gopi is a social media character that Sait had previously created. Talking about how they developed a film around this character, the comedian said, “When you do a 2-3 minute video, the emphasis is on punchlines, but when it comes to film, the journey is a lot longer. The credit goes to the director who looked at the bigger picture. We workshopped the character and looked at how affable he can be.”

Director Vamsidhar added, “Danish had come out with this interesting character Gopi a couple of years back and it got lots of love. When we were talking about this, we remembered how interesting people used to visit us back in our school days and taught us arts and crafts. We thought why not envision Gopi doing it, and that’s how it all started.”

The director also said their only aim was to make the audience laugh.

To a question posed by Silverscreen India about Amazon’s plan for expanding its Kannada library, Manish Menghani, Head of Content Licensing, Amazon Prime Video India, said, “We are continuing our investments in Kannada and will talk about getting more films.”

Other Kannada films such as Ratnan Prapancha and Ikkat have also premiered on the platform in recent times.
