While Kaththi is running successfully, the movie’s team has not yet heaved a sigh of relief. A case has been filed against the film in the Madurai High Court by Mr Ramasubramanian, an advocate. In his petition against AR Murugadoss, Vijay and Lyca Productions, Mr Ramasubramaniam has alleged that the film has commented on a matter that is still being investigated in court. Vijay makes a reference to the 2G scam in the movie, and remarks, “Our land has people who have made crores and crores of rupees from just air.” The advocate reportedly feels that such a comment from an actor who has a large fan following in the South will ‘show the judiciary in bad light, and wrongly influence people’.
According to The Times of India, Ramasubranian has said, “Kaththi has been created with an ulterior motive. It portrays the nation and rulers in a bad manner. Its dialogues amount to damaging the dignity of the judiciary. It would also affect the nation’s foreign direct investment.”
The case has been adjourned for now and will come up for hearing on November 11. A representative for actor Vijay declined to comment on the issue.
